Are socio-cultural plurality and biodiversity compatible or do they bring forth to a clash? The aim of the multidisciplinary study (folkloristics, study of religion, ethnology, history, archaeology, sociology) is to explore the local culture, the utilisation of natural resources and the socioeconomic development in relation to environmental changes, to investigate the traditional and the evolving economic pattern (tourism, a.o.) and to trace the ancient (archaeological) man-nature relationship. The area of study is the Archipelago Sea Biosphere Reserve Area, SW Finland (Åboland).
